Flute Tip

It's time to practice your flute and you can't seem to get your flute together!!  You ask yourself, why aren't my head joint and foot joint going together as well as they use to?  Well, I have good news for you!  Chances are, the tenons are dirty and they simply need to be cleaned.  Thankfully, this is something you can do at home or in the classroom if you catch the problem early enough.  Below are pictures of the head joint and foot joint.

These are areas of the flute that can and should be cleaned regularly in order to avoid further damage.  One simple method that I always recommend is to use rubbing alcohol on a clean, cotton cloth.  Soak a small area of the cloth with rubbing alcohol and clean both the tenon and inside socket.  Repeat this step until both sides are clean.  It's that simple!  If that doesn't work, it may need more professional attention.  For all you Dads out there, never use any abrasives!  You don't want to remove metal from the instrument.  Thanks again for stopping by.  Now, you are ready to practice!
